Now to business ;)

let's look at ~ため（に） and the various ways we use it in English.

1.  due to~, because~

Due to his heavy smoking, my friend has become sick.

友達はタバコを吸いすぎたために、病気になりました。

Due to the dangers inside the construction area, we can't go in.

この工事現場の中は危険なために、入ることができません。

You could also say...

Because my father smokes too much, he has become sick.

2.  in order to (動詞）~, for (the benefit of)　（someone, something).

 

In order to enter an American university, I'm studying English.

アメリカの大学に入るために、英語を勉強しています。

For my family, I work as hard as I can.

家族のために、一生懸命働きます。
